When to Stay Home

Tempurature of 100.4 or higher (Return if fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication.)
Vomiting within the past 24 hours (Return if free from vomiting for 24 hours without medication)
Diarrhea within the past 24 hours (Return if free from diarrhea for 24 hours without medication)
Body rash with itching or fever (Return if free from rash, itching, or fever and evaluated by a doctor if needed.)
Itchy head with active head lice or nits. (Return if appropriately treated and provided proof to the school nurse.)
Redness, itching, and /or crusty discharge from the eye. (Return if evaluated by a doctor and have a note to return to school safely.)
Hospital stay and / or ER visit. (Return if released by the medical provider.)

Important Reminders

Absences

Whenever students are absent for any reason, their parent/guardian must send a signed and dated written explanation of the absence to their child’s teacher no later than the Third Day after students return to school after their absence. After five (5) personal notes written by the parent/guardian for excused absences, the school administration may request appropriate medical documentation upon return to school for the purpose of validating the absences. Academic work missed due to an absence should be made up when a student returns to school.

Protecting your family from Head Lice

School lice outbreaks are a fact of life, but you can help reduce the risk of infestation. Discuss the subject of lice openly with your family. If there is a head lice outbreak in school or daycare, check everyone who’s had close contact with the infested person with a nit comb for nits/lice. Notify the school of any new cases of head lice. Encourage children not to share anything that touches their heads such as combs, brushes, headbands or hats. Talk to your local pharmacist about using a preventative treatment that does not contain harsh chemicals.

Pre-K and Kindergarten parents please pack an extra change of clothes in your child’s backpack for emergency changes. This may save you an unplanned trip to school! Donations may be sent in with your child to the office or dropped off in the clinic.
